Paired With: Delin Cremeux de Bourgogne Cheese, Prima Donna

The Mount Eden Chardonnay is a beautiful, rich, buttery, smooth, silken wine. Initially tight upon opening, it became, after an hour or so, like lemon butter sauce with hints of nuts, melon and fresh cut grass.
This is a very well made wine that I think could be aged another 5 to 10 years. It has a very long finish and stays beautifully and restfully on your palate for up to 5 minutes after drinking.
I can imagine it with steamed lobsters served with drawn butter and squeezed lemon. Or perhaps some butternut squash served in brown butter with pine nuts.
Today we had it with Prima Donna and Cremeux de Bourgogne cheese.
Prima Donna is a Dutch cheese brand of Vandersterre Groep. It combines the flavour of aged Italian Parmesan with the pliant texture of Dutch Gouda cheese. The wine went very well with the nuttiness of the cheese.
Cremeux de Bourgogne is very similar to Brillat Savarin. It's a sweet, mild, milky triple cream cheese that is so delicate it will melt in your mouth. It also went very nicely with the Mount Eden.
I would love to have this wine with a full meal of creamy, buttery, lemony or nutty dishes. Something I will probably keep coming back to.
